Education:
Jordan School District
Jordan School District is the largest of Utah’s 40 school districts. Jordan serves more than 81,000 Utah students in 92 schools. The large number of schools and students does not hinder their success. On the contrary, Jordan School District has one of the top graduation rates in the country and their students consistently score higher on tests than Utah and national averages.
Utah’s Jordan School District Mission Statement states, “The mission of Jordan School District is to serve students by providing opportunities for them to realize their potential as contributing citizens and life-long learners. In cooperation with students, parents and community, we are committed to helping each student acquire academic skills, prepare for the world of work, and develop attributes of citizenship necessary in a democratic society. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe environment that promotes individual responsibility, personal achievement, and respect for all individuals.”
Jordan School District expects quality work from their students and staff. The teachers work hard in these Utah schools to meet the individual needs of the students while continuing to improve the quality of education they provide.
Jordan School District encompasses the schools in Alta, Bluffdale, Draper, Midvale and Sandy. Jordan School District covers about 250 square miles of the Salt Lake City, Utah area. Graduating students are awarded more than $23 million per year in scholarships and more than 80 percent of those seniors continue on to college.
Jordan School District has come a long way since it began in 1905 with 3,000 students. More growth is projected, to the point of 100,000 students by 2015, but this Utah school district is moving forward, adapting and adjusting to the immense increase of students.
